Office Closure: President's Day

Hello everyone! This is a heads-up that Overture's administrative offices will be closed on Monday, February 15th in honor of Presidents' Day. For those of you who are curious, this holiday was originally established in 1885 to mark President George Washington's birthday. It even is still officially called “Washington’s Birthday” by the federal government. Traditionally celebrated on February 22—Washington’s actual day of birth—the holiday became popularly known as Presidents’ Day after it was moved to the third Monday of February as part of 1968’s Uniform Monday Holiday Act, which took effect January 1971. Despite this change, several states still have individual holidays honoring the birthdays of Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and other figures.

Presidents’ Day is now popularly viewed as a day to celebrate all U.S. presidents, past and present. Do you have a favorite president?
